Walking

The property has many idyllic walks including the ring road (single lane traffic) of Ervallagh on which the property is located.  The 35 minute loop includes a small picturesque beach and harbour. Pictured below is the exit from the property to the loop road which tends to be covered with Daisy's in April/May/June each year.

Wildlife

The grass bank between the house and sea is a haven for foxes, hares, mink and pheasant amongst others.  Also Cockoo and the rarer Curlew song is best heard in early morning and late at night.  There are field glasses in the bookshelf in the sitting room and a torch in the hall for night viewing. In season we regularly have pods of porpoises, and the majestic Basking shark is not uncommon, the second largest shark or fish after the whale shark. This giant of the sea feeds on the zooplankton found in the rich local waters. Measuring up to 12 meters and weighing up to 6 tons, they are thought to live for 50 years and are seen mostly from May to September.
